Ex-TNT Singer TONY HARNELL Putting Finishing Touches On Acoustic Retrospective CD

December 15, 2009

Former TNT vocalist Tony Harnell is putting the finishing touches on his long-awaited, as-yet-untitled "stripped down, acoustic-based retrospective CD" for a tentative spring release via Frontiers Records. According to Harnell, the album "is getting mixed right now by my buddy Bruno Ravel (DANGER DANGER) and it sounds amazing." The LP will include reworked versions of Tony's hits with TNT and WESTWORLD, other classic songs and new stuff as well.

Harnell previously stated about the upcoming acoustic effort, "I took all the fan input into consideration and created an album which I think will, simply put, make people smile. I've reworked everything, sometimes pretty drastically, to bring a fresh approach to all the songs. New keys, tempos, arrangements and overall style. Some are more true to the original than others, but many are quite a departure, in a good way.

"The band was recorded live, as were much of the vocals. . .

"The band is my New York-based band which is simply awesome. These are not metal guys, just excellent tasteful musicians. These guys are in-demand New York City dudes who simply know how to play simple and effective.

"I wanted guys who could help me break these songs down to the essence of the melody and add something new and we did just that. And, of course, Amy [Harnell, Tony's wife] is lending her beautiful voice on harmony."

Harnell's final release as a member of TNT was the "Live in Madrid" DVD, which came out in September 2006 via MTM Music. The set, which was filmed on April 1, 2006 in Madrid, Spain, was accompanied by an 82-minute audio CD plus booklet liner notes from Harnell about his work with the group as well as an additional tour documentary by Darren Paltrowitz.
